Pregnancy: 2nd Trimester in Review
My second trimester started off much more bloated than my first. I started this trimester in March and I really struggled with what to wear to work. I was teaching so I wore a lot of dress pants and they were so uncomfortable. I highly recommend investing in stretchy pants or dresses that you can wear during and after pregnancy. We told the extended family and my work during this time. I waited a long time to make my pregnancy public, I was afraid of judgement and anything happening to the babe but in the future I will likely tell people sooner. We had our anatomy scan and it went perfect. Baby was stubborn and had it's legs crossed and wouldn't move around so we had to get up and dance it into a new position. April is when my bump started to become a real bump and it was so amazing. My husband and I were moving closer to his work in June so we decided it would be best to switch providers awhile. It was nice to build a relationship and meet the new providers but the hour drive was inconvenient for me with work and coaching after school. We switched doctors around 24 weeks. I think our anatomy scan was the last time we went to our previous provider. Upon the first meeting with out new doctor we immediately felt better about the switch. Our new doctor was so much more informative and treated us like we didn't know anything which we appreciated because our previous provider never offered any information unless we requested it. We originally chose this doctor because they had a midwife on staff that also delivered. We scheduled with her for the first few visits but quickly switched to meeting other doctors because she actually did not seem to enjoy her job or answering all of my questions. She would come in and ask me if I had any questions and then I would pull out my little notebook and she sat down with an annoyed look on her face. Then I asked things like "What does delayed cord clamping mean to you?" and she would say this is common practice you don't need to ask for things like this anymore. Another doctor we saw at this location answered with "How ever long you would like it to be". Unfortunately we switched doctors so late in pregnancy and there were not many locations to switch to in our area so we were kind of stuck here. It wasn't horrible but if I could do it again I would vet providers before becoming a patient. At one of our first appointments the midwife felt my stomach to see babies position and she told me looks like baby is on it's way down, it is currently transverse breech. I thought nothing of that and continued on as usual. Flash forward to after delivery I found out that if baby is transverse around 28 weeks it will likely stay that way unless you take action, which is also easier and more effective earlier than later. You will soon understand why I say this. Overall 2nd trimester was uneventful and enjoyable. Telling everyone and getting to feel my babe so strong was amazing.
